We love food here at Start Digital. Not just eating food, but the business of food. In fact, some of our favourite clients have been in the food and drink industry, and Truffle Master definitely counts as one of these.
Deborah Farrow has built up a reputation and customer base selling truffle related products at London’s gastronomically brilliant Borough Market. She was introduced to us by one of her suppliers: and we have been working with her on the launch of a new line of truffle products.
She had a clear idea of calling her new business “Truffle Master”. Our first task was to create a brand identity for it.
We did this by inviting her into the office in Glasgow for a workshop. She flew up from London and spent the day with us: going through some initial ideas and sketches before narrowing down on a favourite concept.
The logo is inspired by the origin of where truffles are typically found; at the roots of trees. We used a worm’s eye view of tree roots to influence the design. (Don’t know what a truffle is? Check this explanation out here!)
The goal was obviously to create a premium product – to reflect the high prices that truffles attract. And to reflect the aspirations of the kind of foodie experts that tend to frequent the likes of Borough Market!
From creating a logo, we worked on a series of labels and colour options for the products – which range from pates to oils to gift sets.
And we also created a library of images and colours Deborah could use online on her website and social media.
As this is primarily a bricks and mortar business, Deborah opted to have us create a Shopify website for her to sell her products internationally. At a fraction of the price of a full WordPress Woocommerce set up, this is idea for new companies and new brands. You can view the site here.
